Have you ever ached from bending over to clean your bike, with a Made in China plastic brush?

The Green Oil Massive-Brush is the answer! Cheap brushes out there look like good value. 5 in a pack. Made of plastic. £25- £35. But why not have one decent brush for the whole bike? Should we support British Manufacturing and sustainable forestry? Yes. Should we use everything made of plastic and leave bits of plastic bristle in the environment? Hell no. The Massive-Brush is Plastic Free, it has over 5 different uses, and it's designed to last over 10 years. It has some of the longest bristles in the industy at over 7cm, and the brush itself is nearly half a meter long. Massive-Brush is a game changer.

Plastic vs Plant and Wood

What happens to your brush at the end of it's life. Can it be recycled? Usually not. Do the bristles clog up with grime? Yes if made of plastic. The Massive-Brush is different.

What is the Massive-Brush for?

Your whole bike. The Bristles are soft yet tough. Scrubbing your chain and sprocket, but also wheel cleaning, as a claw brush for sprocket sets, for hard to reach bits, wheel rims and spoke cleaning. The bristles are soft enough too for the whole bike frame. The plastic claw brushes made by Weldtite and Muc-off are not comfortable to use. Spikes dig into one's fingers.

The Massive-Brush has a comfortable handle. It's simply awesome.

The unique bristles are plant based, not plastic. They are Tampico, a sustainably sourced plant. Microplastics are an environmental problem that plastic brisles contribute to. The Massive-Brush bristles are actually better than plastic ones. More durable, less 'cloggy' and softer for frame cleaning.

The Massive-Brush has a 'cog spike' at the end of the handle. This can be used on dérailleur cogs to remove grime.

Massive-Brush bristles simply don't clog up easily with mud or grime.

Some Massive-Brush Tips

  1. Always soak bristles in water before use
  2. Rinse the bristles whilst using the Massive-Brush
  3. Always hang your Massive-Brush to dry after use. This is a high-end product, not plastic junk to be thrown in a box after use.
  4. Every year or so, re-nourish the wood with linceed oil.

Massive-Brush also has a 'Cog Spike' on the butt of the handle. It has a rounded edge. Simply hold against the dérailleur cog of your stationary bike, run the chain through to spin the cogs (you can turn the cranks back by hand to do this), and watch the mud scrape off!

The Green Oil Massive-Brush is Eco Friendly

The Massive-Brush is built to last. The bristles used are strong and durable, designed to last a long time, yet plant based and natural. Tampico is a Mexican plant, it is grown and harvested sustainably.

The handle was made from sustainably sourced wood. Beech wood specifically, from and FSC certified supplier. The finished product is not yet FSC certified, but we will renew our FSC liscence and get certification in the near future - the Beech Wood used is 100% sustainably sourced.

The Massive Brush is fossil fuel free! No plastics are used to manufacture it. Even the handle uses linceed (flax) oil instead of varnish. The bristles are plant based, so when there is wear and tear, little pieces of plastic are not going into the environment which don't biodegrade. Any bristle waste will break down safely in the environment.

Even the print on the brush is biodegradable, so theoretically if your brush did ever wear out, you could put it in your compost bin! It is durable though, so a well kept brush should not be heading to the compost bin any time soon. The Massive-Brush is designed to last more than a decade. Some wear will occur, but built-in obsolescence is not something we do at Green Oil. Massive-Brush is designed to last over a decade.

There are two versions of the Massive Brush. Massive-Brush 1.0, and Massive-Brush SLR. The SLR has a metal badge and upcycled leather strap on it.

We recommend drying out your brush indoors, or in the sun after use to keep it in good condition. Hair conditioner can be used to make the bristles last even longer, wash it like Boris Johnson would his hair.
